PVB

aka post-vacation blues. I have a small case. It’s been a week now since my return from Oahu. It’s not so much that I miss Hawaii but I miss the vacation lifestyle. I imagine it’s what people of leisure (aka rich folks) must do all the time. It was pure delight to worry about nothing more significant than ‘did I reapply enough sunscreen after my snorkel?’.

I REALLY enjoy not being burdened with tiresome thoughts on making a living. It’s so much easier to think about larger vacation-styled topics such as ‘who has the best lava flow pina colada on Waikiki?’ or ’should we go by the pool to play cards?’or ‘I think this ridiculously overpriced t-shirt is perfect!’. And my favorite pondering…‘how soon will Japanese become the official language of the Hawaiian islands?

I want you to know, gentle reader, that I DID ruminate on larger, more important issues too. I had the standard ‘is wanting to never work again the beginning of my mid-life crisis?’ along with a number of variations of the ‘what scheme will allow me to stay on permanent vacation?’, which I discussed in great length with J & B. They were no help on this point as all they could come up with was sell more expensive real estate or win the lottery. And of course, neither of those ideas sound appealing nor likely.

There were a few brief thoughts on that old saw ‘will I find a mate?’. But they were short and not that interesting. This is me moving on.

All in all, I am happy to return to home since the beds at the Ala Moana Condotel were about as soft as concrete.

I will say that my small bout of PVB has been ameliorated by an incredibly intense catch-up-at-work phase followed by a fantastic bit of planning-the-london/spain/moroccan-adventure phase. I’ve decided that I love planning trips. Maybe I should talk to H about getting a gig. But then it’d become work, wouldn’t it? Perhaps that’s a bad idea. It would be nice to just plan and go on trips all the time. Perhaps a lottery ticket isn’t such a bad idea after all!

Anyhoo, I’ve got a few catch up posts owed to you. Expect the final London Oct ‘07 journals, a few WOTD, my first video attempt (don’t laugh) and a short recap of the Hawaii adventure. That should keep you pleased as punch till I’m back from Morocco.

Till next time…

Egads!

So sorry, gentle reader, I’ve been on vacation and forgot to post an out of town message for you! I’m so ashamed!

That said, I’ll be posting Hawaii pics and a trip overview sometime today or night.

I hope you still love me!

Hasta la vista, baby -
