“Truculent” derives from “truculentus,” a form of the Latin adjective “trux,” meaning “savage.” It has been used in English since the 16th century to describe people or things that are cruel and ferocious, such as tyrannical leaders or wars, and has also come to mean “deadly or destructive” (as in “a truculent disease”). In current use, however, it has lost much of its etymological fierceness. It now frequently serves to describe speech or writing that is notably harsh (as in “truculent criticism”) or a person who is notably self-assertive and surly (such as “a truculent schoolboy”). Some usage commentators have criticized these extended uses because they do not match the savagery of the word’s original sense, but they are well-established and perfectly standard.

Why so long in coming? Well, I wanted to make a video of the show pics to give you a flavor of the experience. Making videos is easy. Making a GOOD video is hard. Therefore, this post languished in draft-land till now!

A friend turned me on to a fun little site called Animoto. I uploaded the photos and song, they did the cool parts. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Animoto’s service did a bang up job visually but they didn’t use the whole song. Boo. It’s my only gripe. So after months of goofing with a poorly made vid I hucked it and deliver to you this WAY better version along with deep thoughts on music.

And it’s super prestigious and stuff!

Thanks so much to Miss Cheryl for nominating and choosing my blog as a testament to excellence in writing. Or excellence in something…I’m not sure if it’s a compliment but I’m choosing to treat it as such.

Am I really THAT snarky? For real? Is this a good thing?

As of tomorrow my brother and sister will no longer be at the mercy of the tax paying public. The tax deadline will be past and procrastinators will be SOL.

This is such a joyous time, gentle reader! I can call them and they will do more than growl. They will be happy with relief that is the completion of another tax season! Yay!

In a few days I can even visit them without the worry they will collapse in a state of overworkedness!

I will let them bask in the joy that is a fews day off (not having many of those since around February). Then I will pounce on them with glee and force them to hang out with me!

I’m so happy (spoken in accent eerily similar to that of Geppetto).
