Soooo, I’ve been enjoying the delights of DVR with my cable. It is the only way to watch TV. I love efficiency!
Oh come one, you know you love it too! I can fast forward through all the annoying commercials and I don’t have to worry about missing a favorite show because I have a tractor pull to attend. And generally, it keeps me from watching crap because I know there is always something in the record list I WANT to see. DVR=yay!
That said, I STILL have missed two-that’s right TWO season finales because of some odd little glitch with the DVR! The shows were in the recorded list but when I press play I get an irritating message “That show is not available at this time.” WTF?
And it never became available. Even after I waited a whole week just in case the DVR was tired and needed a rest. Maybe it just wasn’t ready to play my show right then. OK, I can dig it. I know. You can feel my desperation oozing through this post because I anthropomorphized the DVR.
Well, it didn’t work. So I take the ‘it’s just a machine tact’. Perhaps it’s stuck or in a loop of some sort. I reset it, I unplugged it, I picked it up and shook it. Shaking sometimes works with electronics…really.
Finally, I pleaded with it and after no response from the eveil DVR I sat in abject despondency on my couch. Pouting. DVR=eveil!
Sigh.
So now I have no clue as to what happened on the season finale of Torchwood or Heroes. Gah! I have been fuming about this for two weeks! At least I was able to find the Heroes finale online. Thank you, oh people of the uploading TV shows subculture!
I am still chomping at the bit for Torchwood. I’m hoping that BBC will rerun it very soon and the DVR will work this time. If not, I WILL be canceling my cable. Or at least getting a new DVR box.
No, I am not going onto the Interweb (where the emails live) to find out what happened. If anyone attempts to tell me via email I will cover my virtual ears and sing “Somehwere Over the Rainbow”.
Pooh.
