New Look

as if you didn’t already notice!

Please let me know if anything is broken or if you have suggestions as to the placement of stuff.

I’m still tweaking and twonking the sidebar, header and adding loads of new plugins to fancy the place up a bit.

Anyone have a favorite plugin or Wordpress hack they’d like to share? I’m all ears.

A Bit Bumpy

but otherwise fine although I’m still not capable of sleeping through a nasty storm without the watchful eye of a companion. Thus, I’m up up up and insomniac at 4 AM.

It looks like I’m on the other side of the storm now. Power went out four or five times but only for a couple minutes each time. Here’s a pic from NOAA hopefully it still works by the time you read this.

I’m off to watch bad internet TV now till the winds abate and it’s less noisy for sleeping.

The Sordid Truth

Stumbling around on Stumble Upon I came across this page.

Oh, the humor and, ironically, the truth!

Those Wonderful Sculptors

Sometime back I jabbered on about how smashing I think sculptors are since they make rock look soft–sometimes fabrics, sometimes flesh. Here’s another fabulous example and one that puts Florence on the “Places I Must Visit” list.

The statue is called “The Rape of the Sabine” by Giambologna. It’s huge but the photo below only shows a detail portion of it. Albeit, one that REALLY illustrates the skill of the sculptor. I especially like this piece because it’s a ’scene’ from the pre-history/mythology of the Roman Empire. And you know how much I love that Classical History stuff, gentle reader. If you’d like to learn more about the story the statue represents then click here.

Good stuff!

Mad World

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world … world
Enlarge your world
Mad world
